The World Central Kitchen Mourns the Loss of Aid Workers in Gaza
The World Central Kitchen is in mourning after seven of their aid workers were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza. Among the victims were three British nationals, an Australian, a Polish national, an American-Canadian dual citizen, and a Palestinian.
James Kirby, a military veteran from Bristol, was part of the charity’s security team. John Chapman, born in Aylesbury, and James Henderson, a former Royal Marine from Truro, also worked in security. Saif Issam Abu Taha, a Palestinian driver and translator, had been with the World Central Kitchen since the beginning of the year.
Zomi Frankcom, an Australian national, had been with the charity for five years and was described as an “outstanding human being.” Damian Sobol, from Poland, had joined the World Central Kitchen in 2022 and was documenting the charity’s missions on social media. Jacob Flickinger, a dual US-Canadian citizen and father, had been working in Gaza since March after volunteering in Mexico.
Canadian officials have called for a full investigation into the deaths of humanitarian workers in Gaza, including Flickinger’s. The loss of these dedicated individuals has shaken the World Central Kitchen and the humanitarian community as a whole. Our thoughts are with their families and colleagues during this difficult time.
