Thieves Make Off with Millions in Cash from GardaWorld Facility in Southern California
In a daring heist, thieves managed to steal an estimated tens of millions of dollars from a GardaWorld money storage facility located in Sylmar, Southern California on Easter Sunday. The robbery took place in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, where burglars were able to breach the building and safe where the cash was stored.
While initial reports suggest that as much as $30 million was taken, law enforcement sources are still working to confirm the exact amount that was stolen. The LAPD and FBI have launched a joint investigation into the robbery, which has shocked many given the high level of security typically associated with GardaWorld.
GardaWorld is known as a security partner for Fortune 500 corporations and governments, with 425 branch offices in 45 countries. An employee at GardaWorld expressed surprise at the significant cash theft, despite the security measures in place.
This recent heist is now considered one of the largest in Southern California, following other notable incidents such as a Brink’s tractor-trailer robbery and a 1997 Dunbar Armored facility heist where $18.9 million was stolen. The authorities are actively working to track down the perpetrators behind this brazen crime and recover the stolen funds. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
