In a shocking turn of events, Tesla has issued a temporary halt to deliveries of their highly anticipated Cybertruck model after a viral video surfaced online. The video, which quickly gained traction on social media, highlighted a potentially dangerous issue with the accelerator pedal pad.
The video demonstrated how the pad could slip off and become lodged in the interior trim, ultimately causing the pedal to become stuck at full throttle. This alarming revelation prompted Tesla to take immediate action, recalling all Cybertrucks in order to address the problem.
According to Tesla, the accelerator pedal pad is supposed to be secured in place with a rivet during the installation process. The company released a video from an event in California, as well as their own documentation, to shed light on the issue and provide guidance on the necessary steps to rectify it.
The Service Bulletin issued by Tesla outlines additional measures that must be taken to ensure the safety of the Cybertruck owners. This includes measuring the distance between the pad and the pedal backing, with any distance greater than 5mm requiring the replacement of the entire pedal assembly.
Despite the potential safety hazard, a video posted by a Tesla employee has reassured customers that the fix for the accelerator pedal pad issue is relatively simple and quick, taking only 35 seconds to complete. As Tesla works diligently to address this issue, Cybertruck owners can rest assured that their safety remains a top priority for the company.
