The Bib Theorists is thrilled to announce that Sam Gold will be directing a new Broadway production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This unique production will feature music by Jack Antonoff and movement by Sonya Tayeh, promising a fresh and innovative take on the classic tragedy.
The show is set to premiere in the fall at a yet-to-be-announced theatre, with rising stars Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler headlining the production. The duo aims to bring a youthful energy to the stage, celebrating the hope and passion of young people while also tapping into the anger they feel about the world they are inheriting, especially with the upcoming presidential election in November.
The timeless story of two star-crossed lovers caught in a world of violence and impulsive decisions will be brought to life through this production, promising a moving and poignant theatrical experience. This Broadway debut will also showcase the talents of Jack Antonoff in a new light.
Seaview will produce the Broadway revival, with 101 Productions, Ltd. as general manager and Taylor Williams leading the casting efforts. Further production details, including the theatre, performance dates, design team, and additional casting, will be announced in the future.
