Hellen Obiri of Kenya and Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia emerge victorious at Boston Marathon
Hellen Obiri of Kenya once again dominated the Boston Marathon women’s race, securing her second consecutive victory with an impressive finish time of 2:22:37. Minnesota’s Emma Bates was the first American woman to cross the finish line, with Sara Hall closely following behind.
In the men’s race, Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia claimed the top spot, finishing with a time of 2:06:17. American runner C.J. Albertson put on a strong performance, finishing seventh overall in the men’s race.
Wheelchair racers also made their mark at the prestigious event, with Eden Rainbow-Cooper of Great Britain winning the women’s division with a time of 1:35:11. Marcel Hug of Switzerland set a course record in the men’s wheelchair division, finishing with an impressive time of 1:15:33.
Apart from the glory of winning the historic race, the winners of the men’s and women’s races will also receive a hefty prize of $150,000 each. Monetary prizes will also be awarded to the second and third place finishers in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
