In a stunning upset, the NC State Wolfpack defeated the Duke Blue Devils with a 74-69 win in the ACC tournament quarterfinals. Despite Duke’s double-bye in the tournament, they suffered their earliest exit since 2013.
Duke’s forward Kyle Filipowski put up an impressive performance with 28 points and 14 rebounds, but struggled against NC State’s tough defense. NC State’s hot shooting from the 3-point line helped them maintain the lead throughout the game.
NC State’s DJ Horne made a triumphant return from injury, scoring 12 points in the first half, including a buzzer-beater. Duke never managed to take the lead in the second half, but nearly capitalized on NC State’s late errors.
A missed dunk by NC State almost led to a collapse, but they managed to hold on for the win. Horne’s free throws in the final moments secured the 73-69 victory for the Wolfpack.
NC State will now face the winner of the Virginia vs Boston College matchup in the next round of the ACC tournament. Stay tuned for more exciting basketball action as the tournament continues.
