Escape from Tarkov Developer Faces Backlash for Locking PvE Mode Behind Expensive Edition
Battlestate, the developer of the popular game Escape from Tarkov, recently faced criticism from players for locking a PvE mode behind a €300 Unheard Edition. This exclusive mode was not accessible to Edge of Darkness (EoD) Edition owners, despite previous promises of access to all subsequent DLCs.
In response to the backlash, COO Nikita Buyanov clarified that the PvE mode is not considered a DLC by the developer. However, after much outcry, the company decided to make the PvE mode available to all EoD Edition owners, but only after the game comes out of early access.
Players who do not upgrade to the Unheard Edition will have to pay to access the PvE mode during early access. Battlestate offered a 50% discount to upgrade to the Unheard Edition and a 70% discount for early access to PvE for EoD Edition owners.
Despite these changes, fans remain dissatisfied with the developer’s decisions regarding the PvE mode. Many feel that locking content behind an expensive edition goes against the promises made to loyal players who purchased the EoD Edition.
It remains to be seen how Battlestate will address the ongoing concerns from the community and if further changes will be made to ensure a more fair and inclusive gameplay experience for all players. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story on The Bib Theorists.
