Drone enthusiasts and beginners alike have something to look forward to with the upcoming release of the DJI Mini 4K. The popular drone manufacturer quietly announced the new 4K mini camera drone, set to hit Amazon on April 29 at 9 a.m. EDT.
The DJI Mini 4K is said to bear a resemblance to the Mini 2 SE, which recently saw a significant price drop to $279, the lowest ever for any drone in the DJI Mini series. Additionally, DJI has reportedly sought approval from the US Federal Communications Commission for a Class II permissive change to the Mini 2 SE in order to upgrade its camera to 4K.
The new DJI Mini 4K is expected to come equipped with features like a 4K camera, 10km video transmission, intelligent flight modes, a maximum flight time of 31 minutes, and a wind resistance of 38kph. While the price point for the Mini 4K has yet to be revealed, it is speculated to be under $350 in order to compete with the next model up, the Mini 3.
For comparison, the Mini 3 is priced at $410 with a remote controller and $549 with an HD display remote controller. It boasts the ability to shoot 4K/30fps HDR videos and 48MP stills. The Mini 2, which has since been discontinued, also had the capability to shoot in 4K.
Drone enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the release of the DJI Mini 4K can mark their calendars for April 29 to get their hands on this new and potentially budget-friendly addition to the DJI Mini series.
