Apple Introduces New Action Button and Silence Mode Icon on iPhone 15 Pro
In its latest update, Apple has added some exciting new features to its iPhone 15 Pro. One of the standout additions is the Action button, located in the same place as the previous side switch found on older iPhone models. By simply pressing and holding the Action button, users can now access a range of convenient functions.
Notably, the default action of the button is to control silent mode. This means that with a simple press and hold, iPhone 15 Pro users can quickly switch their device to silent mode. Even if the Action button is customized to perform a different function, a silent bell icon will still appear in the status bar.
However, thanks to a recent revelation from technology expert MKBHD, users can easily hide the silent bell icon. By navigating to the Settings app and selecting “Sounds & Haptics,” users can tap the toggle next to “Show in Status Bar” to conceal the icon from view.
Moreover, the Action button can be customized to cater to individual preferences. This can be achieved by accessing the Settings app and navigating to “Action button.” Here, users are presented with an array of options ranging from silent mode, focus mode, camera, flashlight, voice memo, shortcut, accessibility features, and even the option to have no action assigned to the button.
While it’s possible to customize the Action button to something other than silent mode, users can still activate silent mode through the Control Center or by going to “Settings” followed by “Sounds & Haptics.”
