Nissan Recalls Over 236,000 Cars in the U.S. Due to Steering Control Issues
Nissan, one of the leading automakers, has recently announced a recall of more than 236,000 newer model cars in the United States. The recall is related to potential steering control issues that have been identified in certain models of the Sentra compact cars manufactured between 2020 and 2022.
The company has revealed that the front suspension tie rods in these vehicles are prone to bending and breaking, which can lead to a loss of control over the steering wheel, posing a significant safety risk for drivers and passengers alike. If left unattended, these issues could potentially result in accidents.
Owners of the affected models are advised to take immediate action if they notice any signs of a problem, such as an off-center steering wheel or vibrations. Nissan has urged owners to contact their nearest dealer as soon as possible. In response to this safety concern, the automaker has also assured owners that both the left and right tie rods will be replaced free of charge, including the cost of parts and labor, once a new and improved design is made available.
To inform affected owners about the recall, Nissan will begin sending out letters starting from October 5th. Owners will receive a second letter once the necessary parts are ready for installation. It is worth noting that this is not the first time these particular models have been recalled for similar steering control issues. Therefore, even if owners have previously had their cars repaired, they will need to have the new tie rods installed to ensure their safety on the road.
Nissan has taken these proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its customers. Additionally, the company has established a dedicated helpline, Nissan Consumer Affairs, where customers can seek assistance or ask any questions they may have regarding this recall. The helpline can be reached at (800) 867-7669.
As an esteemed automaker, Nissan is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety. By taking quick action and swiftly addressing this steering control issue, the company aims to maintain the trust and satisfaction of its customers. Drivers are encouraged to stay proactive and promptly reach out to their nearest dealer if they suspect any issues with their Sentra compact cars.
