The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team, led by star player Paige Bueckers, has punched their ticket to the Final Four once again after defeating USC 80-73 in an intense Elite Eight matchup. Bueckers put on a stellar performance with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists to lead her team to victory.
Despite a late comeback attempt by USC, UConn managed to hold onto their lead and secure their 23rd Final Four berth in program history. Freshman standout JuJu Watkins set an NCAA record for freshman scoring with an impressive 29 points in the semifinal game.
The Huskies will now face off against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Final Four in Cleveland. Iowa is coming off a strong performance in their own Elite Eight matchup and will undoubtedly provide a tough challenge for UConn. The Huskies will play in the second game of the Final Four, following the matchup between South Carolina and NC State.
USC’s Amari Forbes and JuJu Watkins combined for 53 points in the losing effort, showcasing their talent and determination throughout the game.
