The Las Vegas Raiders have made a big move in free agency by signing former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Andrus Peat. The three-time Pro Bowler at left guard is expected to bring experience and depth to the Raiders’ offensive line.
The deal is pending completion of a physical exam, but Peat joins a Raiders team that already has returning starters in left tackle Kolton Miller, left guard Dylan Parham, and center Andre James. However, the right guard and right tackle positions are expected to be open competitions.
In addition to signing Peat, the Raiders have also added veteran guard Cody Whitehair in free agency and drafted Oregon center/guard Jackson Powers-Johnson and Maryland offensive tackle Delmar Glaze. Peat, who was the No. 13 pick in the 2015 NFL draft, started 102 games for the Saints before returning in 2023.
Last season, Peat lost his starting role at left guard to James Hurst but showed versatility by moving to left tackle and starting 11 games. Interestingly, Peat’s father, Todd Peat, also played guard for the Raiders in the early 1990s when the franchise was located in Los Angeles.
The signing of Peat comes on a day where the Raiders also added receivers Jalen Guyton and Michael Gallup to their roster. With a mix of experienced veterans and young talent, the Raiders are looking to bolster their roster and make a strong push in the upcoming NFL season.
