Apple’s Shift from Electric Vehicles to Household Robots
Tech giant Apple has reportedly redirected its focus from electric vehicles to household robots, with engineers at the company working on a “personal robotics” device that could potentially cohabitate with users. The project is still in the research and development phase, and its release date remains unclear.
In addition to this personal robotics device, Apple is also said to be developing an “advanced table-top home device that uses robotics to move a display around.” These projects are being spearheaded within Apple’s hardware engineering division, with collaboration from its machine-learning group.
The move towards household robotics comes at a time when the tech industry has seen limited success in this market. Amazon’s recent release of the Astro robot received a relatively muted response from consumers, highlighting the challenges of breaking into this space.
Apple’s previous ventures into new product categories, such as the Vision Pro and Apple Car, have faced mixed reviews and setbacks. Despite this, speculation continues to swirl around the potential release of Apple’s domestic helper and the company’s future in the tech market.
As Apple remains tight-lipped about the specifics of these projects, industry experts and consumers alike will be keeping a close eye on the developments in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates on Apple’s foray into household robotics on The Bib Theorists.
