Rapper Macklemore Releases New Song Praising Protests Against Israel’s War in Gaza
In a bold move, rapper Macklemore has released a new song titled “Hind’s Hall” in support of college students protesting Israel’s war in Gaza. The song not only praises the students for their activism but also criticizes US government aid to Israel and expresses solidarity with pro-Palestinian protesters who refuse to vote for President Joe Biden due to his support for Israel.
The song specifically calls out universities for their financial investments in companies tied to Israel and condemns police intervention in protests on college campuses, including the use of rubber bullets and pepper balls. Pro-Palestinian protesters across the US have been calling for universities to divest from Israel, leading to over 2,300 arrests.
The title of the song, “Hind’s Hall,” is a significant reference to Hind Rajab, a Palestinian child killed in Gaza, and the more than 13,800 children who have lost their lives in the war. Macklemore accuses the music industry of complicity in the conflict and has announced that proceeds from the song will go to UNRWA for Palestine Refugees.
Despite facing accusations of antisemitism in the past, Macklemore has been an outspoken supporter of Palestinians since 2020. Known for making political statements in his music and appearances, including advocating for LGBTQ equality and speaking out against former President Donald Trump, the rapper’s latest song is sure to spark further debate and discussion on the ongoing protests against Israel’s actions in Gaza.
