Ukrainian Servicemen Use Drones as US House Passes Aid Package
Ukrainian servicemen are turning to drones to monitor the situation along the front in Kreminna, Ukraine as the Russia-Ukraine war rages on. This development comes as the US House of Representatives approved a $61 billion foreign aid package for Ukraine, which also includes aid for Israel and Taiwan.
The bill is expected to be greenlit by the Senate and signed into law by President Joe Biden this week. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to US lawmakers for passing the bill, stressing that it will help prevent the war from escalating and ultimately save lives.
Despite this aid, Ukraine is urgently in need of air defense systems, artillery, and ammunition to combat Russian offensives in eastern Ukraine. While the aid package will provide a boost to military operations in the short term, analysts are raising concerns about the uncertainty surrounding long-term funding.
There are concerns regarding the continuation of US aid under a potential second term for former President Donald Trump. Analysts have suggested utilizing frozen Russian assets to assist in funding Ukraine’s reconstruction and victory in the ongoing conflict.
Ukrainian troops in the east are facing shortages of artillery and ammunition, with reports indicating that Russian forces are firing more shells than Ukrainian forces. The disproportionate distribution of weaponry has allowed Russian forces to make significant gains in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
